Portraiture is a very intimate experience. There is a relationship between the photographer and the subject that must be cultivated in a very short period of time in order for the session to go well. Sometimes one is successful, and sometimes not. Often everyone is put at ease after a certain amount of time has passed, and other times, especially when small children are involved, you have a very short window of time to get it right! Portrait photography is one of those acts that causes me a great deal of anxiety and trepidation. But when it is all said and done and I’ve been able to produce an image or two that makes my customers smile, it is so worth it!
